California Here We Come!

Ok , so it didn't start out so great! Our plane was supposed to be leaving Fort Lauderdale 10 minutes late, but somehow I knew it would be longer then that! Since we only had a 40 minute connection in Atlanta, I was fearful we'd miss our connecting flight SO- I contacted our trusty, fantastic travel agent while sitting on the runway in FLL and she got us backup reservations on a flight that left 2 hours later. We ended up leaving 30 minutes late and made up a little time in the air. We were told by Delta that they were holding the connecting flight to CA for the three passengers on our plane. We got off the plane in terminal A and sprinted (our trainer friend would have been proud of me because the sprint took place with my 15 lb back pack on)
To the last (of course ) gate in terminal C. We arrived as the gate agent walked back in and closed the door. It was 3:11 pm and flight was leaving at 3:20. They would not open the doors to let us on!

We made the 5:15 pm flight which (thank goodness Arlene had backed us up on) and arrived into Santa Ana 30 minutes early! Yea! We grabbed a taxi (luggage and all) and made it to the restaurant for the rehearsal dinner while they were still having cocktails! We had traveled dressed ( I had shoes, jewelry and purse in my backpack) for the dinner fearing lost luggage or some other disaster. That certainly paid off big time!!! Our back packs made us self sufficient for at least 24 hours. After that I would have been shopping for sure! (not a bad thing....)

The dinner was fantastic! The company amazing and we are having a great time! Weddings are so much fun when you love the people you're with! The weather is very cool for us Floridians, but these crazy Californians are in bikinis on the beach and surfing in 59 degree water. Bill and I were comfortable in jackets! Oh how our blood must have thinned!!! Still, it's a gorgeous sunny day- perfect for a wedding!! Monday we begin our drive up the coast! I'll keep you posted!
